Lagoon Park a large regional park located in Northeast Montgomery, Alabama. While the park is approximately 432 acres, 165 acres of the park has long been underutilized green space. Thanks to the efforts of Friends of the Lagoon Park Trail, the 165 acres is now home to Lagoon Park Trail. The Trail now weaves through large sections of mature forest, a creek, meadows, and a wildlife wetland.

In 2011, a group of local businesspeople and interested citizens saw an opportunity for an underutilized area adjacent to an existing city golf course.  Today the group is the Friends of the Lagoon Park Trail and is working to assist the city in the development of the trail.  Construction has begun on the pedestrian and biking trail loop, a pedestrian bridge, and single-track nature trail. Through a partnership with the City of Montgomery, an ADECA Grant ($100,000), and corporate sponsorships we were able to not only build over ten miles of trails and clear undergrowth, but also remove invasive plant species from the new park.
